Former Inter striker Ivan Zamorano has backed the Nerazzurri to get a result against Barcelona at the Camp Nou tomorrow and believes they could even finish top of their Champions League group.

Luciano Spalletti’s side will be looking for an eighth straight win in all competitions when they kick-off in Catalonia on Wednesday evening, having consolidated third place in Serie A with victory in the Derby della Madonnina last weekend.

Zamorano, who scored 41 goals and made more than 100 appearances for Inter during a five-year spell at the end of the 1990s, is confident they can cause Ernesto Valverde’s men problems and has urged his former side to be ambitious in this season’s competition.

“I don’t think Inter are underdogs in this group,” he told Goal.com.

“They have a better international pedigree than Tottenham and they have a true star in Mauro Icardi. I think they can get a result at the Camp Nou and keep their hopes of topping the group alive.

“Inter need to move forward step by step – they can’t take part in the Champions League just hoping to live off their memories from 2010.

“They need to target getting out of the group and then keep a cool head when the tournament really begins [in the knockout phase].”
