Italian journalist Matteo Marani reflected upon Inter’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Barcelona last night in the Champions League
“Inter were defeated by a great team. The absence of Lionel Messi from Barcelona’s team helped give players like Arthur or Phillipe Coutinho empowerment.
“Inter has to put in a great deal of effort in the first half while the second half of the match was more comforting, even with an evident superiority from Barcelona,” he said in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.
Marani then looked at the positives that can be taken from the game.
“Matteo Politano made a positive contribution. It is astonishing because he is only in his first year at Inter. Matias Vecino did well too. Inter are growing as a team and yesterday was a further test for them.”
He concluded by speaking on Borja Valero.
“He replaced Radja Nainggolan and done well in the Milan derby but he struggled yesterday.”
