Former Inter owner and president Massimo Moratti has reflected upon the Serie A campaign so far and was full of praise for Juventus who yet again lead the pack.
“It has been a very nice season where there has been a lot of beautiful games. Juventus remain an important figure while the good performances of Napoli and Inter bodes well for the league. We just have to hope there will be a better title fight than last year but Juventus seems to be the stronger than everyone,” Moratti said in an interview with TeleRadioStereo.
“Juventus have more continuity than the other teams and this is shown from their seven straight league wins and by the fact that they are looking to win their eighth won as if it were there first one. They have remarkable professionalism. They are now used to managing both Serie A and Champions League something which makes the whole league that bit more interesting.”
Moratti proceeded to discuss his beloved Nerazzurri and current club captain Mauro Icardi.
“They have shown a big improvement already. There are already many talented players there and the important thing is that there is still a long way in the league to go.
“Yesterday evening Icardi showed that he can do anything in front of the goal. His first was a goal of great class that required timing and courage. He is getting better and he has a nice character. He is always smiling and this helps the rest of the team to be more enthusiastic.”
Despite plenty opportunities to re-enter the footballing world, Moratti has knocked them back and was then asked if there are any particular aspects of football that he misses.
“I do not miss anything because my passion remains the same. I have a great relationship with Inter president Steven Zhang and Suning are very kind to keep me informed.”
