Inter, hurting from that defeat in Spain during midweek, traveled to Rome seeking to extend their domestic run and to join Napoli in 2nd place in the league. From the start the controlled the tempo and looked better for most of the game.
Samir Handanovic – 7.5: Had it not been raining, he could have brought his favorite book and read it in the first half.Great saves in the second half. Looked unbeatable.
Sime Vrsaljko – 6.5: His quality is beginning to show. He looked like he belongs here and his partnership on the right with Politano looks to be one to watch out for.
Joao Miranda – 7: His defending is top class. That tackle on Immobile was world class. Doesn’t look comfortable when we play the ball out from the back though.
Milan Skriniar – 7: The usual. Played with a lot of Lazio players closing him down. Played out with a calm head even when Ciro was using his pace and trickery.
Kwadwo Asamoah – 6.5: Lot of industry as usual. Took a booking for the team but then smartened up. Concentrated on his defending once we went ahead. Solid tonight.
Matias Vecino – 7: The Olimpico brings out a special Vecino. The dictionary should just have his video for box-to-box. Should have scored tonight. Great game.
Marcelo Brozovic – 7.5: Epic perfomance. Major part of all good things happening at Inter going forward as well as defensively. Looked a bit tired towards the end.
Matteo Politano – 7: Hard worker and adds quality when its needed. His runs always cause problems and he always draws out fouls and bookings for opponents.
Joao Mario – 6.5: Played like it was his last game ever. Gave it his all, found all the little spaces that were available. Moved the ball well, held up play brilliantly.
Ivan Perisic – 6: The day off training seemed to help him tonight. Looked fresher and troubled opponents in the first half but the tiredness returned. Wasteful.
Mauro Icardi – 8: The first goal is all Mauro even in the buildup. Determination all over. Unbelievably calm when the ball comes to him inside the box.
Borja Valero – 6.5: Brilliant pass to find Icardi in space. He recovered possession a few times and also managed to break down a few Lazio moves. Great sub to have.
Roberto Gagliardini – N/A: 7 minutes including injury time, not much to do but just get into 50-50’s and make simple passes. Will be happy to finally see the pitch though.
Keita Balde – N/A: Just like Gagliardini didn’t have much time to do anything but his touch still seems poor. Has a lot of quality, just needs to produce it now.
Luciano Spalletti – 7.5: Perfect first half. Tactically outclassed Simone Inzaghi tonight. Lazio had no answers and the team was working like a Swiss clock.
Massimiliano Irrati – 8: Perfectly justifiable bookings. Didn’t lose control of the game for one second. One of the better refs in Serie A. Just one mistake overall.
Inter – 7: Great comeback after a tough mid week game. Nice to see fringe players like Joao Mario tuned in. Playing as a team and all gave a 100%.
