Former Inter midfielder Benoit Cauet shared his thoughts and feelings on Inter’s 3-0 win over Lazio on Monday night in an interview with broadcaster Sky Sport.

“Inter are a very strong team. It is never easy to win at the Stadio Olimpico especially as Lazio are fearless at home and have excellent players who are capable of scoring at any time. Inter had a great game from every point of view it was not the perfect game but it almost was.”

Cauet then spoke on club captain Mauro Icardi who scored two of the goals on the night.

“Icardi is decisive for the team. He is the first to defend and to attack, he gives a hand where he can and he does it very well.”

He then spoke on the other goalscorer Marcelo Brozovic.

“He is a technically skilled player. He has had many ups and downs but with the World Cup he has gained greater confidence at playing as a protagonist. His attitude has changed as before he was lost because he wanted to overdo it, now he is more lucid, reasonable, and now he is getting along well with his teammates, with Vecino in particular.”

Joao Mario made a surprise start and Cauet praised the Portuguese’s performance.

“Inter wants to recover him and he showed his value. It is not easy to make your seasonal debut at the Olimpico and put in such a performance. He was good and put himself at the service of the team. The players in general are finding more and more confidence with these results and performances.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on who he believes can be the anti-Juventus this season.

Inter and Napoli have the potential. Juventus have a six point advantage on both sides and the Nerazzurri must acquire more awareness to compete for the first place. They are working on it though and can make it difficult for the Bianconeri.”
