Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has put an end to any hope Inter had of signing Frenkie de Jong in the upcoming winter transfer window by issuing a strong statement that none of the players of Ajax will leave.

“No one will leave the club in January. We know that at the end of this season we will lose three or four players as they have reached a level where it means we can not keep them. It is important for us to work out where we can reinvest the funds and replace our best players,” he said in an interview with Fox Sports.

Despite the wealth of interest in de Jong and Mathijs de Ligt among many others, Overmars revealed how refreshing it has been to see the players remain grounded.

“The nice thing about all of this is that even our players are not thinking about a move elsewhere. They all want to have a good season.”
