Luciano Spalletti will seemingly have to do without Radja Nainggolan this weekend against Genoa and as a result he will have to find an alternative solution to him in the meantime. According to a report from Tuttosport, Spalletti has four options in mind.

Lautaro Martinez is one such option. The Argentine youngster has already been tried in behind Mauro Icardi this season but does not offer the defensive guarantees that Spalletti is looking for despite being a goalscoring threat.

Borja Valero is an experienced head who has shown what he is capable of in recent games but at the same time he also performed poorly against Barcelona when tasked with trying to replace Nainggolan.

Keita Balde has shown flashes of what he can do when he finds himself behind Icardi while after his performance against Lazio Joao Mario is also in with a shout.

One thing for sure is that Spalletti is not short on options but must decide which of the player’s, all with varying characteristics, is the best fit for Saturday.
