Former Inter manager Gian Piero Gasperini once again discussed his ill-fated short spell in charge of the club in an interview with sport streaming service DAZN.

“Once when I was with Inter, it was a Champions League match against Trabzonspor and I gave up my ideas. I always say that when managing a big team like them, you have to be very strong and prepared to face whatever could happen to you. The team I had had problems and in that environment you have to get prepared for it and hope to be strongly supported by the ownership.”

Gasperini served as Inter manager for a mere three months between June 2011 and September 2011, managing five competitive games, drawing one and losing the other four. These days he finds himself on the bench of Inter’s next Serie A opponents in Atalanta, who he has managed since 2016 and helped launch the careers of several young prospects such as Inter’s Roberto Gagliardini.
