Real Madrid maintain their interest in Inter captain Mauro Icardi but Quotidiano Sportivo report that this may actually help speed up the renewal process with Inter.

Los Blancos could offer a mouth-watering some of €200 million to Inter in order to bring Icardi to the Santiago Bernabeu. While a January move seems pretty impossible, if anyone has the money that could make it happen, it is the Spanish side, who have endured a poor start to the league campaign.

Icardi is currently under contract with Inter through to the end of the 2020/21 season and pockets an annual salary of €4.5 million, a figure Real Madrid could significantly increase.

The continued rumours about his Inter future could however help the ongoing negotiations over extending his current contract with the Nerazzurri. Icardi’s agent Wanda Nara has held talks with Inter’s directors over a new deal but it is understood that there is some distance between her demands for her client and husband compared to what Inter are prepared to offer their captain.
