Keita Balde’s name was included in Senegal’s squad for their upcoming match with Equatorial Guinea but did not and will not report for national team duty due to an administrative mistake on the Senegalese FA’s behalf.

The Senegalese FA President Abdoulaye Sow has confirmed that the email to Inter calling the winger up to national team duty was in fact sent to the wrong address.

Senegal, who are currently ranked 25th in the FIFA rankings, pleaded with Inter to release the 23-year-old winger to allow him to take part but Inter knocked them back due to the deadline for national team call-ups having passed.

Not only did they reject it for this reason but also because Inter manager Luciano Spalletti had already planned his training regime for the international break with Keita Balde in mind.

The winger joined Inter on a season long loan in the summer from Monaco but is yet to perform as expected having registered no goals or assists.
