Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini believes that his former employers Inter are capable of taking the Scudetto crown off of Juventus which they have worn for the past seven years.

“Inter have laid the foundations for an important future. I would say Inter, prospectively, are the team that will throw Juventus off the throne,” he said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gasperini, who managed the team for only a few months, then spoke on his time in charge.

“I have no grudge against Inter fans I’m sorry many have one against me. Maybe they interpreted my analysis as an attack on Inter, but I only said that at the time the club was not built to win, and had in fact been struggling for years.

Gasperini then spoke on former Inter manager Jose Mourinho and his recent antics after his Manchester United side beat Juventus in Turin.

“I did not find his gesture offensive. Football needs this kind of sarcasm. His funny grin made me laugh more than the the hand to the ear.”
