Corriere dello Sport have underlined a problem that Inter have had almost every year for the past seven seasons, that of having a collapse over the winter period.

There are two Inter’s: the Inter that we see during the first half of the season and the Inter that we see during the second half. It has been seven seasons, with the only exception being in 2014/2015. Inter have had many coaches and many changes in players but Inter seem to struggle to recover from this disease. Inter always perform worse after the halfway point of the season.

Generally during the winter, before or after the break, comes a series of negative results which end up undermining the positive progress built in the previous months. Even though Inter always seem to be coming out of the tunnel, they never manage to get back on track. Last season, Inter did not lose until the 16th game, but after that they put together a series of eight games without a win. Then they recovered and managed to secure fourth place on the very last day. That has been the best finish that Inter have had in the last seven years, which shows how good Spalletti’s work has been. Inter and Spalletti must overcome these mental problems.
