Inter are planning to integrate centre-back Alessandro Bastoni into their first-team squad from next season, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bastoni joined Parma on a season-long loan in August after terminating his stay with former club Atalanta a year ahead of schedule, having joined the Nerazzurri in a deal worth up to €31 million in 2017.

The 19 year-old missed the opening two months of the campaign due to a knee injury but made his full debut for the Gialloblu in the 2-1 win over Torino on 11 November, earning high ratings in each of Italy’s sports papers for his impressive performance.

Inter are keeping a close eye on the Italian’s progress and the Milanese publication reported on Sunday that they will opt against sending him out on another loan deal next season, as they believe he will soon be good enough to play for the first team.

“Bastoni’s price tag of €31 million is confirmation that Inter have made a long-term investment on the player, which they hope to monetise over the next few years,” they wrote.

“The player could be integrated into the first-team setup as early as next summer. He’s left-footed and knows how to start moves from the back, which are two attributes [Luciano] Spalletti currently needs.”
