Manchester United have cooled their interest in Milan Skriniar after deeming Inter’s asking price for the centre-back to be too high, according to reports in England.

Skriniar has yet to renew his contract with the Nerazzurri and continues to be linked to the Premier League giants, with Jose Mourinho known to be unhappy about his current options in defence.

However the Manchester Evening News reported on Sunday that United are unwilling to pay the £75 million (€84.3 million) that Inter would request for the 23 year-old, and thus do not wish to step up their interest in the player for the moment.

“Despite the fact he is turning into one of Serie A’s best defenders United haven’t gone particularly far in their pursuit,” they said.

Skriniar was one of only two men to play every single minute of his side’s matches in Italy’s top flight last season, along with Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi.
