Inter could delay announcing Giuseppe Marotta as the club’s new Chief Executive in order to avoid unnecessary tension when they play Juventus next month, according to Sport Mediaset.

Marotta is no longer under contract with the Bianconeri and flew to China last weekend to meet the Nerazzurri’s owners Suning, with most sources reporting that a deal for the 61 year-old’s arrival is already in place.

However Inter could postpone his official unveiling until after the first Derby d’Italia of the season, scheduled for Friday 7 December in Turin, so that Marotta does not become a sideshow in the build-up to a key match for Luciano Spalletti’s team.

There is no risk of the agreement falling through, however, as Marotta is in ‘complete synergy’ with the Zhang family and is ready to sign a three-year contract worth €1.5 million in annual wages.

In the meantime the former Sampdoria and Venezia director is said to be already working on transfer targets for next summer, with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric identified as his primary objective, as well as securing contract extensions for Milan Skriniar and Mauro Icardi.
