Having touched back down in Italy having spent the past few days in Nanjing, China to hold talks with Inter’s owners Suning, Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta shared his thoughts and feelings on it all.

“It was a beautiful experience. They are a great group,” the former Juventus director told Il Giornale.

Marotta is widely expected to complete a move to Inter in the coming weeks and will serve in a boardroom capacity, most likely as chief executive as per various reports. Inter do of course already have a chief executive in Alessandro Antonello but it is speculated that they will split the role with Marotta dealing with sporting matters while Antonello will deal with everything else.

Il Giornale have also revealed that the 61-year-old received a proposal from Inter’s city rivals Milan last year. The Rossoneri leadership offered him a blank contract but Marotta knocked their offer back due the project at hand at Juventus and his relationship with both Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and Juventus in general.
