Jose Carlos Peres, the president of Santos, has once again spoken on what the future could hold for loan-star Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa with the club.
“We are talking to his representatives and with Inter too. We are doing our best to keep him here for another season,” Peres insisted in an interview with Brazilian news outlet BandSports.
Peres then went on to reveal that the player himself has ambitions to stick around after his current loan spell which is due to conclude at the end of December.
“He is a boy who grew up in our academy, he is a good striker, he is important and the club recognises this and he wants to stay here too.”
The 22-year-old Brazilian striker has found form again upon returning to the Peixe after a difficult time in Europe with both Inter and Benfica. Various reports have stated that Inter are looking to cut ties with the once €30 million man but it remains to be seen if he will wind back up at Santos.
