Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan has revealed why he opted to stay in Italy and move to Inter over a move elsewhere.

“I came to a club in Inter that wants to build something big, so I think I am in the right place. I had many chances to go away from Italy but I am the kind of person who first of all has to live well and stay in a club that plays to win. Overall, I am happy with my life at the moment,” he said in an interview with ESPN.

“I like the culture in Italy. Chelsea offered me more money than I ever got at Roma in 2017 and while they are a great club, I want to wake up in the morning in a place where I am happy.”

The Belgian also revealed that Manchester United were once interested in him.

“At 29-years-old I did not want to start over again somewhere away from a place I have earned respect over the past 12 years. There were so many things to weigh up. Manchester United were also interested but there were so many things that I was not interested in at all. Of course I am flattered by the fact that they were looking at me though.”
