After the terrible loss in Bergamo, the banter era Inter would simply crumble by conceding a goal and struggle to a draw in the end against Frosinone. Not this Inter though. This Inter, while resting a lot of its main starters, can still turn up and beat low lying and deep defending teams for fun. It was a brilliant performance all around from the backups as the team made it look like a training session.

Samir Handanovic – 6.5: Did he bring his favorite book? Had one/two saves to make from Ciofani, the rest was just like they do in the warmups. Passing was good.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6.5: Stable. Made a couple of mistakes but recovered the ball as well. For once used the space Politano creates by his running, need more of that.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5: Did the bare minimum that was needed. One poor pass all night but it was to Skriniar who controlled the situation with no fusses. Easy.

Milan Skriniar – 7: Played marginally better than De Vrij and covered for everyone’s mistakes. No fuss, no mistakes, simple effective defending and football.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6.5: Just like D’Ambrosio, he had a very stable game, made a few forays forward. The international break seems to have refreshed him a little bit.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6: His runs, chasing down and movement off the ball looked good. Made some avoidable errors with passes. Better teams would punish him.

Borja Valero – 7: Spalletti changed Borja’s engine. Played the regista role perfectly. Yes he gave the ball away once but overall he was brilliant. Inter have depth!

Matteo Politano – 7.5: Yes all he got was 1 assist, but his running, passing and movement was a level above what Frosinone could handle. Tactically perfect as well.

Radja Nainggolan – 5.5: Slowly working his way back to fitness, players like Radja need these games. Used his experience to keep it ticking and stopped moves for fun.

Keita Balde – 8: Please change Inter’s email addresses next International break. The 2 goals and assist are invaluable. Two weeks of training can make a huge difference.

Lautaro Martinez – 8: Played almost as well as Keita. Battled, took the hits and gave them back while providing quality touches and scoring a difficult goal. El Toro.

Joao Mario – 6: Showed that he is still in his good moment. Will be useful over the tough run coming up. This is all credit to Spalletti.

Mauro Icardi – N/A: Had one opportunity that was blocked. The team was playing very well and he just slotted in and did the chasing down for 15 minutes or so.

Antonio Candreva – N/A: Should have scored. Looked pacy and was involved in his 10 minutes or so. If he comes good, Inter’s attack will be unstoppable.

Luciano Spalletti – 8: Everything went according to plan. No injuries, momentum and confidence boost that was needed after the flop show in Bergamo.

Luca Pairetto – 3: Missed a sending off, maybe even a penalty for shirt pulling. Seemed to have hands pointing only in the direction of the Inter goal. Blind.

Inter – 7.5: This was a very good 90 minute performance. Inter wont have it easy in the coming weeks. Onwards to London to seal the place in the round of 16!

Agree? Disagree? Should Lautaro get more minutes in Europe?Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
