Inter Coach Spalletti: “Very Important Match Against Spurs”

Ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti shared his thoughts and feelings.

“It is a very important match that we have been waiting for for years, we have to be willing to do anything for the result. Everyone knows the charm of Wembley but we play at San Siro so are trained in this respect. We already play in front of 65,000 people. The pitch conditions are not perfect, but it is the same for us and for them, there is no alibi,” he told Sky Sport.

“Tottenham’s strength is comparable to that of Barcelona. We knew from the first match that we had to do better than one of those two. Now we have this possibility in front of us and that is what we wanted.”

Spalletti was then asked if he would be changing up the system at all.

“It depends on what you mean, we have our identity already and I do not see why we need to distort the team.”

He was then asked if he was looking at anyone in particular to provide that special moment.

“I hope it is Inter’s night as a whole. Especially in these matches you can’t pass over anyone, even though I think that we have grown a lot in terms of the level that we have caught when becoming concrete in what we do on the pitch is now part of this squad. There are players that can put the result beyond doubt from an individual level.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on the match against Frosinone at the weekend.

“Winning against Frosinone was important. It was the first match of this difficult and important period for us. The first step has been taken and we have prepared well for the second [against Spurs].”
