Former Inter striker Sebastian Rambert has reminisced about his time with the Nerazzurri in an interview with FCInterNews.it, firstly speaking on his arrival at the club.

“It was a surprise as it all happened very quick and unexpectedly. I was maybe not as prepared as I should have been. I arrived at an Inter in difficulty, where the results were slow to arrive. I remember that in order to take to the field I had to take the place of a foreign player due to the rules at the time. This meant that in order for me to be able to be deployed, the formation had to be changed as the other foreigners at the time weren’t attackers. It was a good experience though.”

He then spoke on how different things could have been had he joined today.

“There was a lot of pride when signing for Inter but today I have a little bitter taste in my mouth. Today I would have been registered as an EU player because my father has a French passport and above all there are no limitations with foreigners. So it could have been another story for me.”

He went on to discuss his relationship with former president and owner Massimo Moratti.

“Moratti talked a lot with us players. He was a sincere, friendly person who stood close to the players. His relationship with the athletes was paternal, he was like a father. I have a great memory of the Moratti family.”

Rambert, who only made a few appearances, then revealed that he still follows the club.

“Of course, technology allows you to do everything. The world has changed since I was playing and it is easy to follow the teams we are interested in. I have a feeling of belonging at the club. The Nerazzurri were the best thing that has happened to me in my career. I’m an Interista and I’m cheering for the team to win titles.”

He then spoke on Javier Zanetti who he arrived at the club with.

“Zanetti embarked on a formidable career and the fact that today he is Inter’s Vice President means that he has not only had great qualities on the field, but also off it. He was a great player and is a great man. When we arrived in Milan our reference was Bergomi. We have not spoken a lot in the last few years because obviously I live in South America and he is in Italy. It is too bad that I could not then play in charity games with him because of my physical problems.”
