Much confusion ensued once Tottenham Hotspur beat Inter last night in the Champions League with regard to what it will take for Inter to secure their place in the knockout stages.
Going in to the game, Inter only had to avoid defeat to Spurs in order to reach the next round but the defeat complicated matters heading in to the final game but Gazzetta dello Sport have given confirmation of what is required.
Inter play host to already eliminated PSV Eindhoven in the final group stage game while Spurs travel to Barcelona. If both sides are to be victorious, Inter will crash out of the Champions League. This is due to Spurs having a superior head-to-head record for away goals against Inter.
If Spurs are to lose, Inter only need to draw against the reigning Dutch champions. Inter can perhaps take confidence from the fact they beat PSV away from home in the first meeting while Spurs lost 4-2 to Barcelona last time out.
