Luciano Spalletti reflected upon his side’s 2-2 draw away to Roma and firstly touched upon the usage of VAR.

“The external referees are the ones who have the possibility to intervene in cases of doubt and we [the manager] spoke about it and said it needs to be more precise in the event of 50/50 situations. I do not know about the situations from tonight, I have not seen them yet,” he explained in an interview with Sky Sport.

“He did very well, even with my sending off. I reacted in a certain way and he did well to send me off,” he added on the referee’s performance before going on to give a brief thought about the result.

“The two teams have played a very good match and a point is fair for both sides. We believe that we are working in the right way and we need to continue.”

Spalletti then went on to speak about Lautaro Martinez and his father’s tweet.

“He talked to us about the situation, he handled it perfectly and he said he was sorry. He did not know anything about it but as soon as he realised he had it taken down. He is a strong boy who has character.
