Player Ratings – Roma 2-2 Inter: Kolarov Penalty Denies Inter In Another Rocchi Masterclass

Roma were missing a number of players but they put in a spirited performance against Inter, who twice went ahead thanks to Keita and Icardi but were pegged back. Referee Gianluca Rocchi also managed to irk both sets of supporters.

Samir Handanovic – 7: Both goals conceded were virtually unstoppable. Handanovic made some great saves prior to them. In the first half he stopped everything.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 7.5 : Almost perfect in defence and for once contributed in attack. All his runs and crosses proved to be troublesome for Roma. Beautiful assist for Keita.

Stefan de Vrij – 7: If he continues this way, surely he will be amongst the best free transfers of the season. Can’t blame him for any of the goals. Ball playing defender.

Milan Skriniar – 6.5: Zaniolo and Schick caused him some trouble. Never lost his sense of calm and always did the best for the team. Consistent. Reliable. Leader.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 7: Stable as always. Younger players tried to match up with his speed and strength. They had no chance. Decent attacking runs in the first half.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5:  Unfortunate to concede a harsh penalty. Covered every single blade of grass at the Olimpico. The midfield general we have been looking for.

Borja Valero – 6.5: Borja has rolled back the years and looks 10 years younger to other midfielders.  Too bad his shooting lets him down. Maybe he improves it?

Ivan Perisic – 5: Not much to say but he could have made the same impact in eight mins instead of playing 80 mins. This feels like Candreva from last season.

Joao Mario – 6.5: Did the basics right but in attack he never could get the perfect pass or cross in. Would be interesting to see him play in a deeper role.

Keita Balde – 7: Sometimes the best emails are the ones you don’t receive. Thank you Senegal’s FA. Always created trouble for Roma, should’ve stayed on.

Mauro Icardi – 6: Tried to get involved and got some service today. Didn’t do much before and after a beautifully taken header from Brozo’s corner.

Matteo Politano – 6.5: Some good impact off the bench today for our best winger. His pace caused some problems but could never get a shot away to trouble Olsen.

Vecino – N/A: Brought on too late. We missed some steel in midfield to stop their moves or to just create some superiority. Maybe he starts vs Juventus?

Lautaro –  N/A: Just like Vecino was brought on too late. It’s nice to see Spalletti try to play Mauro and Lautaro together finally. Lets hope they get more time together.

Luciano Spalletti – 5: We can’t always be carrying a player who is out of form. Should have sorted the defensive midfield after we went into the lead. Late subs.

Rocchi – 4: Only Gianluca Rocchi can make both sides unhappy in a game. Roma have every right to be angry. Many minor decisions went against Inter too.

Inter – 6: A draw away to a third place rival is good, but we need to stop playing so deep and falling back the moment we go into the lead. Onwards!
