Legendary Croatian footballer Zvonimir Boban has come to the defence of compatriot Inter winger Ivan Perisic who has received widespread criticism for his performances this season.

“What he does is extraordinary, he can not decide every game, he is a winger that runs a lot and can not always have the necessary freshness. There is a lot of prejudice against him. It was the same for me when I was playing,” he stressed in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

“It is true that he has had a few bad games but he is a player capable of extraordinary performances. He is a player who can provide between 10-12 goals a year and the same amount of assists.”

Perisic has made a total of 18 appearances for Inter across all competitions this term and has scored just two goals and tallied as many assists, a real decrease compared to this time last year.
