Nicolas Burdisso has managed to look past Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta’s past and heaped praise on him as he edges closer to being appointed by Inter.
“His appointment has nothing to do with the rivalry, it is an administrative change. He is an exemplary professional. Inter is reconstructing after the ownership change to the Chinese. It seems a very smart move, Juventus said goodbye to Marotta as a professional, so it does not change anything. The derbies are linked to the sense of belonging more so for the players than directors of clubs,” he told TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Argentine centre back then denied having any regrets about leaving the summer before Inter would go on to complete the historic triplete.
“I absolutely do not have any regrets, it is quite on the contrary to that as it was a joy to see my teammates win everything. I had the choice to go away and I had the World Cup in South Africa coming up so it was the right time, I lived some beautiful years with Roma.”
He concluded the interview by speaking on Javier Zanetti.
“He can do everything. He has an image and a credibility that goes beyond football. He is good for Inter and I hope, in the future, for the Argentine national team too.”
