Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has admitted to missing Italy which could assist the Italian clubs – including Inter – that are interested in signing him.

“It has not been a perfect start to the season. There are still a lot of games left and we will try to reduce the gap to the leaders.

“I am happy to be back playing, but the most important thing is to win. We need to improve our results, I am very proud to play for a club like Manchester United, even if I miss Italy a lot,” the full back revealed in an interview with Sky Sport.

Recent reports from various sources both within and without of Italy have spoken of interest in the Italian international from the likes of Inter, Juventus and Lazio. Darmian is out of contract at the end of the season but it is understood that the Red Devils have an option to extend his contract by a further year should they wish.
