Luciano Spalletti has spoken on Inter’s need to play as a collective rather than individuals in tomorrow’s Derby D’Italia against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.

“We have a very precise idea about what we want to do. The team that wins is the team who has went to do it, not the one who suffers. Therefore, we are going to do the game,” he insisted in an interview with broadcaster Sky Sport.

“We have to show our mentality and our way but they are very strong, not only because of Cristiano Ronaldo’s and his mentality, but also in players like Giorgio Chiellini, Miralem Pjanic and Mario Mandzukic. We have to express ourselves as a collective as playing as individuals is not the solution to everything.”

Spalletti then responded to Juventus managaer Max Allegri’s admission that their game with Young Boys in the Champions League is more important than the match with Inter.

“Allegri says their Champions League game is more important than tomorrow’s game? For us both games are important but they are in a position to choose. Massimiliano knows what his team has to do, we have to do well in both, we have to think about making the correct first step, correct and then the next one.

“In football, it is said that the sum of the strength of the players gives a certain result. We must see how they develop the game. Otherwise we have Icardi that scores 30 goals, Lautaro 20 and Nainggolan 10 and what we do is the sum of this, but it’s not like that.”
