One of the first jobs awaiting Inter’s new chief executive Giuseppe Marotta is to sort out the future of Gabriel Barbosa, who on 7 January is due to arrive for training at Appiano Gentile following the termination of his twelve-month loan spell at Santos.

On Saturday Tuttosport attempted to explain what lies in store for the Brazilian forward. Luciano Spalletti could decide to keep him, but it is more likely that he will move on. In pole to acquire his services is Flamengo, who are looking for an important signing to replace Paquetá (now on his way to Milan) and have already contacted Barbosa’s father.

Corinthians have also contacted him, but this is not such a likely option given the club’s fierce rivalry with Santos.

The other option leads to the Premier League: Kia Joorabchian has offered him to West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton. However the FA’s regulations will only allow for a permanent purchase.
