Gazzetta dello Sport have today analysed Mauro Icardi’s performance in Friday night’s 1-0 defeat to Juventus wherein he managed zero shots at goal.

On a night where he appeared more involved in the build-up than usual, in doing this, Inter lost their best weapon in attack. Failing to present him with chances when playing in this way is a clear problem with the system.

Of course it does not help when the man purchased to specifically set Icardi up every game in Radja Nainggolan is unavailable through injury. This therefore forced Inter in to creating chances down the wings and in turn becoming more and more predictable as the game progressed. The Belgian is the variant that when available needs to be utilised more by Inter.

Icardi has made 17 appearances across all competitions this season for a total of 1399 minutes and has contributed 11 goals and tallied two assists in the process.
