There are conflicting media reports in Italy concerning Inter captain Mauro Icardi’s presence at last night’s Copa Libertadores final in Madrid between River Plate and Boca Juniors.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Argentine striker was not given authorisation by Nerazzurri management to travel to the Spanish capital to take in the spectacle with his wife and agent Wanda Nara. Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti was also there to watch the game between his nation’s two biggest clubs and he was joined by sporting director Piero Ausilio, both of whom Icardi and co. sat not too far from in the ground.

Corriere della Sera meanwhile report that he had in fact asked for permission from the club to attend the match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

River Plate ran out 3-1 winners after extra-time over their arch-rivals to secure their fourth Copa Libertadores title and several other high profile names were in attendance such as former Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi to name but a few.
