Journalist Luigi Garlando has commented on Mauro Icardi’s decision to attend last night’s Copa Libertadores final in the build-up to Inter’s biggest game of this season against PSV Eindhoven tomorrow night.

“Yesterday Mauro Icardi was at the Bernabeu for River-Boca. He took a private flight to Madrid and returned this morning on the eve of Inter’s match with PSV. There are more appropriate and restful approaches to one of the key games of the season, especially for a captain and while there were Juventus players present too, they have already qualified and do not play until Wednesday,” he wrote in a column for Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 25-year-old striker has been criticised in the media for attending the game with conflicting reports doing the rounds with regards to whether or not he sought official permission from Inter to travel to Madrid to take the game in between the Argentine giants.
