Yesterday’s failure to progress in the Champions League has shown just how detrimental Financial Fair Play has been to Inter in the eyes of Tuttosport.

Matias Vecino was out through injury and Radja Nainggolan wasn’t in tip top condition while both Joao Mario and Roberto Gagliardini were unavailable for selection due to Financial Fair Play. This left Spalletti short in the midfield department and he was forced to play Antonio Candreva as the number 10, a role that is far different to his traditional winger role. Despite a good effort, one can only wonder how differently the game would have panned out had a player more suited to the role been available to play.

Moreover, the Turin based newspaper highlight that Inter broke a long standing feat that clubs who won their opening two group stage games progressed, something that dates back to the 2013/14 season.
