Inter did an Inter. One of our most reliable players made a mistake and then we spent the rest of the game chasing a goal. When the news of the result from Camp Nou filtered through it was not encouraging for the team and eventually we got what we deserved.

Samir Handanovic – 6: Handa had to make one good save from a stinging shot and pick the ball out of the goal when they scored. Not much to do but he did it well.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6.5: D’Ambrosio is one of Inter’s form players at the moment. Shaky start but got stuck into defence and attack. Looked determined and involved.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5: Had to stop counters all night against players that were way faster than him. Did his best given the circumstances as he was left 1 v 1 a lot of times.

Milan Skriniar – 7: Skriniar is a class apart. He shows it every single game. Lost count of how many times that he stopped their counters. They gave up towards the end.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 4.5: Asamoah has been good in almost each game he has played so far but was shockingly poor today. Ineffective in attack as well.

Borja Valero – 5: Borja looked off the boil. Maybe because everyone around him was too quick. Made some poor passes in the first half but improved in the second.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5.5: Not his best game. The first half he was virtually the entire midfield. PSV figured that out soon enough and his influence waned as he tired.

Antonio Candreva – 5: He’s still here? Until the 56th min it was difficult to figure out which position or role he was playing. One good quick low cross for Perisic.

Matteo Politano – 7.5: At the moment Inter’s attack is Politano and Icardi. The others are just making up the numbers. As soon as he tires, we are done and dusted.

Ivan Perisic – 5: Only a few people can understand Spalletti’s persistence with Perisic. Hit the post and put in some wild crosses that were difficult to score off.

Mauro Icardi – 7: Always involved and wanted to continue playing in this competition. He gave everything in his locker to get us there. Captains performance.

Keita Balde – 5.5: Only looked good when played out on the left or with the ball on the ground at his feet. Too weak aerially to play centrally with our tactics.

Lautaro Martinez – 5: Tonight was the night he could make sure that Spalletti starts him every game. Missed a glorious chance and was penalised by the ref a lot.

Sime Vrsaljko – N/A: Not much to do. First played on the left and looked out of options and ideas. Then did the same on the right side.

Luciano Spalletti – 5: Do Perisic and Candreva deserve these starts? Sure Asamoah’s mistake was unexpected but we need another option in attack barring Politano.

Zwayer – 4.5: The worst referee we have been assigned this season in Europe. Gave away too many soft free kicks but only one way. Stopped the flow.

Inter – 4.5: We came within a goal of qualifying to the next round out of a difficult group. Truth is we struggled today and haven’t met our objective.

Agree? Disagree? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
