Former Juventus player and now director Pavel Nedved spoke to Sky Sports regarding the elimination of both Inter and Napoli from the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League.

The Bianconeri director stated that: “Let’s say that, on one hand, there was a great chance for Italy to be represented by four teams in the last sixteen of the competition. However, on the other hand, we know that the Champions League is one of the most difficult competitions you can enter. As soon as you make an error, you can be punished.”

Indeed, it was a difficult week in the Champions League for Italian sides. Inter and Napoli both drew on Tuesday, but neither result was sufficient to see them through to the next round.

On Wednesday both Roma and Juventus suffered defeats versus unfancied opposition. Luckily, the results had no bearing on the clubs final standing in the groups and both will be present in the Round of 16.
