Former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti has reflected on today’s verdict that the 2005/06 Serie A title does belong to Inter rather than Juventus who have long contested it.

“It is all normal, a consequence of what happened. In any case, that’s good, it has always been a guaranteed Scudetto. Now the Juventus fans have to accept it too. I was sure that would have been the case anyway. I have always been friends with Juventus President Andrea Agnelli but let’s just say that nowadays that affection is a little more public than it was before…” Moratti told news agency ANSA.

Juventus won the 2005/06 Serie A title but as a result of the Calciopoli scandal that rocked Italian football, they were stripped of the title. Second placed Milan were not awarded the title as they too were caught up in Calciopoli which left third placed Inter who were then awarded the title.
