In the event that Inter management have to sack current manager Luciano Spalletti, Turin based newspaper Tuttosport have hypothesised about possible replacements and point to three names.

Spalletti’s job is safe for now but if he fails to guide Inter in to the Champions League for the 2019/20 edition, his position will become almost untenable.

He will be expected to improve upon Inter’s Coppa Italia performance of last year where Inter only just scraped by lower league Pordenone on penalties before being put out by city rivals Milan. With Inter dropping in to the Europa League as a result of their Champions League elimination, he is expected to do well in the competition where the level is considerably lower than that of European football’s top club competition.

To replace him, there could be a return of Triplete winning manager Jose Mourinho, who looks unlikely to stay with Manchester United past this season. Former player Diego Simeone, currently at Atletico Madrid, is another potential new manager while Antonio Conte, who Inter previously courted prior to appointing Spalletti is yet another name.
