Real Madrid are still looking to plug the huge hole left by Cristiano Ronaldo and with Inter’s elimination from the Champions League, Los Blancos could go in again for Mauro Icardi according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

They are said to be determined to convince the Argentine striker to leave Milan for the Spanish capital where he would be made one of the leading players and be on a very handsome wage too presumably far more than what Inter could realistically offer.

Real Madrid bosses believe that Icardi, who still has plenty room for growth, is the ideal player to replace the 50 odd goals a season that they have lost out upon due to Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus during the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old striker has been with Inter since 2013 and made his 200th appearance for the club in Tuesday night’s draw with PSV Eindhoven in which he scored his 119th goal for the club.
