It looks like Inter have lost out on the chance to sign River Plate’s Argentinian midfielder Exequiel Palacios, at least according to French media outlet L’Equipe.

According to the report Palacios, who recently won the Copa Libertadores with River Plate defeating arch rivals Boca Juniors in the return leg final held at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, could make his move to the Spanish capital a permanent one as Real Madrid are going to pay €20 million for the player.

The deal is expected to be made official after the FIFA World Club Cup competition has been held, where Palacios current club River Plate are the favorites to win the trophy together with Real Madrid, which could be his next destination.

The Nerazzurri have long been linked with the 20 year old player who has come up through the ranks at River Plate and has featured 39 times for the scoring four goals and making 5 assists across all competitions.
