Nerazzurri treble winning hero from 2010 Douglas Maicon gave an exclusive interview to Inter’s Matchday Programme feature published on the club’s homepage moments ago.

The former Brazilian international began by talking about how much Inter has meant to him: “I re-watched the movie about my career then I took the shirt that will always remain in my heart [the Inter Forever shirt NB] and I became very emotional. Inter has given me a lot, I can never forget it.”

The player nicknamed Il Colosso, was then asked about a chant the Nerazzurri fans dedicated to him to which he replied: “It is a beautiful thing to know that the fans sang a chant just for me. When I got out on the pitch, I heard them singing it and it used to fire me up. All of this did nothing more than to push me to always give everything I had and to look to always improve myself. This is the mentality of champions, to never become satisfied.”

Maicon then continued to talk about his memories aside from winning the Champions League stating that: “Of course during my experience at Inter the Champions League victory is something unforgettable but I will always love the first Scudetto I won with Inter. When we celebrated that night on Piazza Duomo, with all the fans, you understood what Inter meant to all these people. We were all happy, it was a beautiful feeling.”

In conclusion Maicon spoke about his compatriot Adriano: “When I arrived at inter I knew that I would play with exceptional players. However there was one who showed that he was better than everyone else every time he walked out on the pitch, he always knew how to make the difference, he was different to everyone else. It was Adriano, Imperatore. Extremely good.”
