Inter broke the negative streak and returned to winning ways in the Serie A after beating Udinese 1-0 at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district thanks to a goal by Nerazzurri captain Mauro Icardi.

Inter dominated the match from the get go and played some very good football, that is until they reached Udinese’s penalty box where the Nerazzurri players displayed nerves, frustration and poor decision making. This is why the game was scoreless after the first 45 minutes and things did not immediately look up in the beginning of the second half.

In fact Udinese started to work their way back into the match until Spalletti brought Lautaro Martinez on for Borja Valero and the Nerazzurri immediately started bombing forward without being able to score. Until Milan Skriniar observantly was the only player on the pitch that saw Fofana block a ball with his hand which prompted the referee to check the VAR and a penalty was awarded.

Mauro Icardi converted from the spot and the three points were in the bag.
