Inter could sign 18-year-old Flamengo forward Lincoln as part of a deal to offload unwanted striker Gabriel Barbosa, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Barbosa has impressed for Santos since returning to his childhood club on loan and is due to return to Appiano Gentile when the deal expires in January, but the forward remains surplus to requirements for the Nerazzurri.

Inter are pleased with how the 22 year-old has resurrected his career in Brazil but are ready to move him on, either on a permanent deal worth at least €20 million or on loan to a club in Europe.

However Flamengo are strongly interested in signing Barbosa and could convince Inter to consider a third option, which would see the clubs swap him and Lincoln, who turns 18 today.

“Were Flamengo to make such an offer it’s unlikely Inter would remain indifferent,” Gazzetta wrote on Sunday, “although at the moment they don’t have any free spots for non-EU players.

“An idea could therefore be to agree a deal for him in January and then sign him up in the summer.”
