Inter’s struggles in front of goal continued as they continued to do everything perfectly until they reached the final third. However VAR rightfully awarded a penalty that could really change the course of Inter’s December.

Samir Handanovic – 6: One save to make and it was an easy one. It wasn’t a night where he could sit and read a book though thanks to the team’s poor mental state with the ball.

Sime Vrsaljko – 7.5: Sime’s best game in Inter colors. He’s over his injuries and World Cup hangover and looks like a breath of fresh air. Great combination with Politano.

Stefan de Vrij – 7: Didn’t put a single foot wrong in defence. Always available for a pass, always precise with everything he did. Just keeps getting better with Skriniar.

Milan Skriniar – 7: Like De Vrij, its difficult to remember a single mistake in defence. Perfect game and even made a foray forward. Always looks inspired and hungry.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6.5: Has played a lot of games and the fatigue begins to show. His game changed after the booking and that made the team unbalanced. Needs to be more decisive.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6: Had a brilliant first half and could have been man of the match. As the game went on his fatigue began to show and the passing quality dropped.

Borja Valero – 5.5: Doesn’t have 90 minutes in his legs. Was good at moving the ball and opening spaces but when it comes to the actual shot or final ball he panics.

Keita Balde – 6: Stable but the team couldn’t get him involved. He was too close to Icardi to find the ball most of the time. Created an easy chance for Mauro which he squandered.

Joao Mario – 6: Still doesn’t have full game fitness. Like Brozo and Valero the quality went down and simple mistakes crept in. Thankfully it didn’t cost the team anything.

Matteo Politano – 6.5: Another good performance, the only complaint would be not scoring before he was replaced. Like his team-mates needs to be decisive and precise.

Mauro Icardi – 6: To score that Panenka chip, in that situation, under the Curva Nord, after missing that simple header requires a lot of courage. Tactically poor by his standards.

Lautaro Martinez – 5.5: Brought a lot of impact when he came on. Was the only player who entered their box with the ball at his feet. Gave it his all. Will be crucial for Inter.

Ivan Perisic – 5.5: Not the most positive of games but this will do well for his confidence that has seemed low since the first international break. Defensively very solid.

Radja Nainggolan – N/A: Probably the biggest positive for Inter is that he finally can play. Hopefully Spalletti can get him fit to start for the trip against Chievo as the team needs him.

Luciano Spalletti – 5: Moving Icardi away from the goal is not a smart move. Inter play some good football, until it’s time to make a crucial pass or take a crucial chance.

Rosario Abisso – 7: Apart from falling for Behrami’s diving and play-acting, the ref got almost everything right. Also made good use of VAR that made the difference.

Inter – 5: Very, very important result for Inter. Hopefully this calms things down and the team doesn’t go to Verona and start the match like it’s the 90th minute and they’re a goal down.
