Wanda Nara, the wife and agent of Inter captain Mauro Icardi, has discussed the terms of the new agreement with sportswear brand Nike.

“I was in London for the renewal of Icardi with Nike: he has signed for nine years,” she said in an interview with Tiki Taka.

The topic of conversation quickly shifted to another negotiation and the one that interests the Nerazzurri fans much more. That, of course, is the extension of Mauro with the Beneamata.

“At the moment we are still far away” begins Wanda, “Or rather, we are not as close as they say. I was bothered by what I read on the front page of Gazzetta dello Sport (which said that the renewal would take place at the beginning of 2019). The papers write things with no basis, and it annoys me. I am the first who wants Mauro to remain at Inter. We are not asking for ridiculous figures – in my opinion Inter can afford the renewal. How much does Higuain make at Milan, for example? The club contacted me during the group stage of the Champions League, but I wanted to wait until qualification was decided. You can see how much the club means to me too, so much that I cried after the result.

“Inter’s offer doesn’t exist. I have to sit down and talk to them and I haven’t done that yet. Inter have their Christmas dinner today and I think they’ll kill me, so I’ll bring something from home with me. Inter wanted to send Icardi to Juventus, but it was Mauro who said ‘no’ as he wanted to stay at Inter.”

These statements may concern Inter fans, however Wanda was quick to allay any fears of problems. “Mauro’s first priority has always been to remain at Inter.”
