A big smile was spread across the face of Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini following his sides precious victory against Lazio in their postponed Serie A clash last night. Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sports following the game in Bergamo, the Italian was full of praise for his side.

“This season, we have beaten two great teams in Inter and Lazio. Certainly, the Biancocelesti remain an important team even if there are under Juventus and Napoli. We played a good game against a quality opponent. It was a difficult game, for sure, but in the end we were able to earn the win.”

Atalanta won the match 1-0 thanks to a goal in the first minute from Duvan Zapata. Lazio thought they had equalised in second-half injury time but saw Francesco Acerbi’s goal ruled out for offside. The result leaves Atalanta sixth on 24 points, whilst Lazio fall seven points behind Inter on 25.
