West Ham are making a move for Inter striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa and have already began negotiations with Inter according to Sky Sport transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Brazilian striker has a host of clubs interested in his services and as per the report, the Hammers lead the race for his signature with discussions proceeding in what seem to be an intense manner.

While he has interest from his homeland, Di Marzio stresses that “his future is likely to be far away from South America,” due to the success he has had while on loan with Santos over the course of this calendar year. In 35 league games, Gabigol scored 18 goals and earned himself the title of Campeonato Brasileiro Série A topscorer.

Gabigol joined Inter in 2016 from Santos in a €30 million deal but failed to crack the first team in his debut campaign which lead to a loan move to Benfica. The loan with the Portuguese giants was cut short just six months in and he went on to join the Peixe in the January transfer window in what has proved to be a worthwhile move for him.
