Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has spoken on the state of Serie A now he has had the chance to experience football outside of Italy.
“From here Serie A is better than we make out. We make ourselves victims, but the evolution has been enormous and goes beyond the Cristiano Ronaldo factor,” he said in an interview with La Stampa.
The midfielder, who now plies his trade with Russian giants Zenit, then went on to speak about the Bianconeri’s rivals.
“Napoli have grown, Roma have proved their character despite the alternating trends and Inter just need consistency. The rivals are growing, it is just that Juve are ahead by many years. They own their stadium, they have a brand that speaks to the world. That J is like the interlocking letters on the New York Yankees badge. To reach that level you need time and, above all, you need ideas.”
