The history of the meetings between Chievo and Inter in Serie A starts from 2001/2002, the debut season in the top flight for the team coached at the time by Luigi Delneri.
The balance between Chievo and the Nerazzurri at the Bentegodi hangs in favour of the visitors, who in 16 meetings have won nine times and lost four against the Veronese side, with three draws.
The first match between the two teams, dating back to April 2002, ended with the score of 2-2, with goals from Massimo Marazzina (41′) for Chievo; Stephane Dalmat (48’) and Ronaldo (59′) for the Nerazzurri; and finally Michele Cossato (91′) to equalise for the hosts in a match that cost Inter two points in their chase for the Scudetto and was marked by the questionable refereeing of Massimo De Santis.
Chievo’s historic first victory came in the following Championship (2002/03): February 15, 2003, which ended 2-1 thanks to two goals by Eugenio Corini (20 ‘and 35′) via a penalty, with ‘Bobo’ Vieri scoring a consolation goal in the 68’.
The first victory for the Nerazzurri came on 2 November 2003: 2-0, with goals from Vieri and Alvaro Recoba
The most recent match was won in favour of Inter, who won 2-1 on 22 April thanks to goals from Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic, with the Gialloblu scoring a goal through Mariusz Stepinski in the final minutes.
