Luciano Spalletti reflected on Inter’s 1-1 draw away to Chievo Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.
“We had several chances to kill the match off but we did not succeed and in the end we created this space that Pellissier was very good at exploiting. We have quality and when there is the opportunity to use it, we have to take advantage of it and bring matches home. We sometimes made choices that were the opposite of what we needed and went against the flow of the game. There were occasions when we were three against two in the box and we must finish those chances,” he remarked in an interview with Sky Sport.
“We played a good match, we were well-organised tactically in the first half. Chievo know how to play in central areas but we found the space there to hurt them. Our finishing let us down though, so we brought on Lautaro to kill the game. they kept taking the ball and launching it forward and in those situations you need to make sure your headed clearances are clean, otherwise you’re left exposed. when it’s end-to-end like that you’ll always have the chances to make it 2-0, but you need to watch out for situations like the one where Chievo equalised. we were caught out in the middle.”
