Ivan Perisic was in no mood to celebrate the end of his three-month scoring drought after Inter conceded a stoppage-time equaliser against Chievo.
Perisic had put the Nerazzurri on course for their first away win in four matches by scoring his first goal since 1 September, bringing a run of 18 matches in all competitions without finding the net to a close.
However Sergio Pellissier’s 91st-minute leveller left the Croatian and his teammates licking their wounds in their final match before Christmas.
“I did score, but what counts is that the team win and unfortunately that didn’t happen,” Perisic told Inter TV.
“We could have scored two or three goals [to finish the game off], but if you don’t take your chances you can always concede at the end.
“Now we have three days to recharge our batteries and focus on getting a win against Napoli.”
Inter’s draw in Verona leaves them five points clear of fourth-placed Lazio and six ahead of Milan, who lost to Fiorentina at San Siro.
